Rajinder Puri is a writer, columnist. cartoonist and political activist. He is based in Delhi. As a columnist and cartoonist his work has appeared on regular assignment in all leading newspapers and journals in India including The Hindustan Times, The Statesman, The Hindu, The Indian Express, The Tribune, The Telegraph, Free Press Journal, India Today and Outlook. Rajinder Puri earlier worked in UK and for a brief period contributed cartoons to The Guardian and The Glasgow Herald.
He is the author of six books on Indian politics. He was a founder All India General Secretary and Election Campaign –in-Charge of the Janata Party in 1977 when the Congress under Indira Gandhi was defeated after the Emergency. Later he was founder All India General Secretary of Lok Dal. After Lok Dal splintered he became Member National Executive and Labour Cell-in-Charge of the Bharatya Janata Party. Due to policy differences he quit the party in 1985. At present he is attached to no party.
